Have you seen all the open space on maps of Townsend, but wondered how to access it? Have you been looking for places to walk in Townsend? Join local trail guides for Townsend Trail Tours on Saturday morning, Nov 3, 2018 at 8:30 am.
Guides from the Townsend Conservation Land Trust, Townsend Historical Society and Squannacook Greenways, and other volunteers, will be available at properties in Townsend. They will be happy to guide you through Howard Park (next to Hawthorne Brook Middle School), the Squannacook River Wildlife Management Area (Shirley Rd), the Haynes Rd. trail (at the kiosk on the left), the Howard M. Stein Memorial Park (at the top of Meetinghouse Rd. off Highland St.), and the Squannacook Rail Trail (the Harbor Church).
Join us by starting with coffee and treats at 8:30 am at the top of Meetinghouse Rd or at the Harbor Church, then get in two or three short guided walks before lunch! Save the date and look for details in October on posters around Townsend, on the web pages of the Townsend Conservation Land Trust (www.townsendconservationlandtrust.org), the Townsend Historical Society webpage (www.townsendhistoricalsociety.org), Squannacook Greenways (www.squannacookriverrailtrail.org) as well as the Facebook pages and other social media outlets (Instagram, Pinterest) of all three organizations. See you soon!
